Dr Michael Peppiatt (Art Critic and Curator)

Author and curator, Dr Michael Peppiatt will discuss the art of Irish-born painter Francis Bacon (1909-1992), whom he first met as a Cambridge student in 1963 and who has been the subject of several of his publications. These include ‘Francis Bacon In Your Blood: A Memoir’ (2015), ‘Francis Bacon: Studies for a Portrait – Interviews and Essays’ (2008), and ‘Francis Bacon: Anatomy of an Enigma’ (1997). He has curated major exhibitions, including ‘Bacon/Giacometti’ at the Fondation Beyeler (2018), ‘Caravaggio/Bacon’ (Galleria Borghese, Rome, 2009) and ‘Francis Bacon in the 1950s’ (Sainsbury Centre, Norwich, 2007). He will curate the exhibition Francis Bacon: Man and Beast for the Royal Academy, London, in 2021.
