Dr Salmon and two other colleagues will be discussing the life and work of the English architect John Soane (1753-1837), who rose from being a bricklayer's son to become the architect of the Bank of England and of King George IV's entry spaces to the House of Lords. For this, among other public works, Soane received a knighthood, dying at the head of the architectural profession. He has featured in Frank's research work and teaching for most of his career, and Frank is also a current Trustee of Sir John Soane's Museum in London - the architect's house in Lincoln's Inn Fields that he bequeathed to the nation on his death and that is today the smallest (and most special!) of the National Museums.
The programme will air at 09:00 on Thursday February 6.
