The University of Cambridge houses globally significant collections of art and material culture, yet the display and research of these collections has largely taken place within Western disciplinary and institutional frameworks. As the University’s museums seek to embrace new global perspectives on these collections (and their histories), this year’s three Visiting Global Humanities Professors will present their research on how ‘non-Western’ artworks and objects, and their display and research, could be approached differently within the context of Cambridge’s museums:
- Dr Mariam Rosser-Owen, Victoria and Albert Museum, London
- Dr Lianming Wang, Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz – Max-Planck-Institut
- Dr Clémentine Deliss, KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin
The presentations will be followed by a discussion convened by Neal Spencer, Deputy Director (Collections & Research) at the Fitzwilliam Museum.
