Thanks to generous funding from donors, the Department of History of Art is pleased to continue its Summer Internship Programme with internships for undergraduate students in summer 2026.
Piloted in 2025 thanks to initial seed funding from the Pharos Foundation, the placements aim to equip students with the skills and confidence needed to enter work post-University and potentially pursue a career in arts and heritage. Taking place across renowned institutions, the internships give students a valuable insight into the varied roles and opportunities within the sector.
“Working across two departments taught me how to balance competing priorities, adapt to different working styles, and contribute meaningfully in both public-facing and behind-the-scenes roles. Most importantly, it deepened my understanding of the museum’s role as a civic and cultural space, and strengthened my belief in the power of art to connect people and communities.” Jin Cheng, History of Art Tripos Graduate 2025 (Dulwich Picture Gallery Internship, 2025).
We are delighted to be able to continue the programme this year thanks to support from additional donors, with internship placements due to take place at the Harley Foundation at Welbeck Abbey, Artiq, Holkham Hall and the Wyvern Research Institute.
The Department would like to extend its great thanks to the donors and hosting institutions, whose support has enabled the continuation of this exceptional opportunity.
