Biography

Elisabetta Garletti is an AHRC-funded PhD candidate in the Department of History of Art at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Dr. Alyce Mahon. Her research focuses on gender representation in contemporary British moving image art, with a particular interest in how representation of 'femininity' is reconfigured in response to queer, post-feminist and posthuman discourses.

She previously completed an MPhil at the University of Cambridge with a dissertation on Romanian artist Alexandra Pirici's performance work, focusing on questions of de-skilling, digital mediation, and the politics of public performance, and a BA in Modern and Medieval Languages at the same university. Her research interests include: the relationship between feminism and artistic practice; queer theory; moving image art and experimental cinema; performativity and gender; posthumanism.
