Alice Cawley is a PhD candidate in the Department of History of Art at the University of Cambridge, supervised by Dr. Alyce Mahon.
Research:
’Decadence and Punk Aesthetics in the US and the UK c.1963-1982’.
My research engages with ideas of decadence and sensorial excess in the aesthetics of the punk movement in the US and the UK, with a particular interest in feminist and queer histories of punk.

About:
I completed my MA in History of Art (2018) at The Courtauld Institute of Art, London, with a dissertation on Paul Thek’s ‘Meat Piece’ sculptures and Decadent aesthetics. Prior to this, I graduated with a BA (Hons) in French and History of Art from the University of Leeds (2016) with an exchange year at the Université de Montréal, Québec, Canada (2014-2015).
