Department of History of Art

The Department would like to congratulate Dr Chloe Ward (neé Kroeter) who has recently accepted a new permanent job as Lecturer in the History of British Art from 1850 at Queen Mary University of London.  Chloe received her MPhil (King's, 2009) and PhD (King's, 2013) from the Department where she was supervised by Professor Jean Michel Massing. Her doctoral dissertation, which she is preparing for publication, was on the art produced by Victorian and Edwardian activist groups. This month she completed a postdoctoral Curatorial Fellowship at Watts Gallery, which was funded by the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and NADFAS. Her first book, The Drawings of G. F. Watts, will be published by Philip Wilson this autumn, and an exhibition she curated, Brothers in Art: Drawings by Watts and Leighton, will open at Watts Gallery on 17 November. She joins the School of History at Queen Mary, University of London from 1 September.
