Cambridge' newest art gallery, the beautiful space of the Heong Gallery, has opened at Downing College with the show 'Generation Painting 1955-65: British Art from the Collection of Sir Alan Bowness', a Downing alumnus. The Curator of the gallery, Rachel Rose Smith, is an alumna of the Department.

The exhibition, which includes works by David Hockney, R.B. Kitaj, Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon, is open from 10:00 to 20:00 on Wednesdays and from 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Heong Gallery is situated alongside the newly completed First Court at Downing College, just inside the Main Gate and Porters' Lodge on Regent Street. Admission is free of charge.

The Summer Exhibition, opening on 11th June, will be of works by Ai Weiwei.
