Each term the seminars are built around a different theme. Distinguished guest speakers are invited from across the UK and abroad, as well as from within Cambridge. The talks are followed by a short Q&A session, and informal drinks and snacks. All are welcome to attend.
This term the series is entitled 'Art and Urbanity'. Cities and art have long been interconnected – artists have lived in cities, used visual means to depict or question cities, and have themselves played a part in the creation and change of cityscapes. This seminar series will see academics from across the world explore the role the city and concepts of urban space have played in art, and vice-versa, across a range of historical periods and geographical locales, from Early Modern Italy to contemporary fairytales.
