Lent Term 2012

The Museum: Aspects and Issues

Organizer: Rachel Parikh

This term's Graduate Research Seminars (25 January – 14 March 2012) are centered on the theme ‘The Museum: Aspects and Issues’. Spanning the term’s eight weeks, this series will explore the multifaceted subject of the museum. The talks will be given by both academics and those holding positions in some of London’s most eminent museums. The series aims to offer dynamic perspectives and insight into the museum, which can be examined as both an academic subject and as an institution. They will cover a wide variety of topics, such as the development of museum galleries, museum architecture, and contemporary conservation practices.

The lectures will take place every Wednesday during Lent term at 5pm in the History of Art Department’s Graduate Center at 4a Trumpington Street. Talks will be followed by a short Q&A session, convened by graduate students affiliated with the History of Art Department, and informal drinks and snacks.

The series is free and open to the public.
